The Hamilton Pollinator Paradise Project is a collaborative initiative of Butterflyway Hamilton and the Hamilton Naturalists' Club. We are working with the community to build a pollinator corridor across the City of Hamilton by planting native plant species to create suitable habitat. Our work promotes and enhances Hamilton's unique biodiversity. The project also shares information and resources about why pollinators are in trouble and what other actions people can take. By creating connected habitats across the City we will also be increasing the resiliency of our neighborhoods. Thank you to Environment Hamilton for being a co-founder of this project.
Our Strategy
To reach our goal, we focus on city-wide community engagement and education, as well as seeking to inform policy on the local, provincial and federal level. Mapping the project's "pollinator sites" is ongoing and as the map gets filled in, it demonstrates that the community is contributing by creating pollinator habitats. Butterflyway Hamilton works to install a small number of pollinator gardens throughout the city each year.
